How much are you willing to spend? You can buy them at WalMart, Staples, Office Max, Target. Or you can go to a catalog (or on line) to find one. They come in all shapes and sizes. You just need to choose the one that fits your spending limit.

I'm told that a big slab of masonite (?) from Lowe's can be as good. Other teachers I know have had it attached over their old chalkboards and been quite satisfied with the results. Also, the masonite can be sawed into smaller tablets for the kiddos to use. I don't know that this would be considered "quality," but it gets the job done.

I was just checking around and perhaps masonite was not the material I'd heard of but melamine, also known as "white tile board," commonly used in bathrooms. This makes more sense, I think.

If you mean for the kids to use, like white boards? To write on and wipe off to show answers or for centers?

Go to Lowes or Home Depot. Get shower board or tile board. It comes in a huge sheet. Tell them you are a teacher and need it cut into small squares. Like 5x5 size. They'll cut it and usually only charge you for the large sheet, not the cutting.

Then a helpful hint, sand down the edges or corners (they'll be sharp) and use old socks in class for the kids to wipe them with instead of tissue or papertowels.

That's what I did my first year teaching and I still use them today. Much cheaper then going to the store and buying a class set of cut boards.

Good luck.

I co-worker bought huge sheets, the size of the blackboards, actually bigger and had them but to fit the blackboards at Lowe's or Home Depot, I'm not sure which. Are you sure this is what you want to do? They looked awful within a short period of time. I have heard that using those Mr. Clean erasers work well to clean them.

It depends on the size you need. I found a really good one at Target believe it or not, it's 3 ft by 2ft in size I believe.
