Why were the U.N. "peacekeepers" in that area DURING a WAR?
I understand that they are there to "observe" and make sure there is no funny-business going on. They are supposed to observe things that go on around the border.

For 6 years, they did not notice AT LEAST 13,000 missles going to Hezbollah. Or maybe they did, but they didn't report it??? I know they can't do anything about it, but AT LEAST report it???? COMMON!

They are supposed to be "peacekeepers", but they obviously failed to do so....since all this happened. What happened to stopping Hezbollah from going across the border and kidnapping Israeli soldiers?

Why didn't they enforce the U.N. resolution of disarming Hezbollah? Yes, I know they can't disarm them....but they SHOULD have enforced that to the Lebanon government to do so. That is there job.

They are SUPPOSED TO KEEP PEACE....AND THEY FAILED!

Yes..i think almost ANY decent unignorant person could have done better.

I could have done better! Even if all i did was report it to Israel, or USA, or Kofi Annan(who is a worthless piece of cr@p)...

well yea i know they can't confront Hezbullah..but they COULD have easily called up Kofi or Israel....they can call Israel 10 times before they die, but they can't call ONCE to tell them "hey...Hezbollah is bringing in missles from Syria...just thought you should know"

and ...i'm not blaming the specific pple at all. It's just that U.N. is corrupt...and useless.

Indeed, the UN has been perpetuating the Arab-Israeli Conflict for 60 years. Although there is no way Israel would attack a UN installation on purpose, UN installations in Lebanon or Gaza could be considered legitimate targets by Israel. for aiding and abetting an enemy in wartime.

Some of the ways the UNIFIL "keeps peace"

* UNIFIL observers have frequently revealed the whereabouts of IDF counterinsurgence ambushes to the terrorists;

* UNIFIL observers, happy to augment their meager incomes with fat Iranian-funded wads of dollars by moonlighting for the Hizbolla terrorists, have served as artillery spotters to help direct terrorist fire against Israel;

* UNIFIL observers during the past 6 years have closed a blind eye to the massive construction of bunkers in South Lebanon, as well as the massive stockpiling of deadly weapons intended for use against Israel;

* UNIFIL observers have given free passage to terrorists on their way to infiltrating or attempting to attack Israel.

*UNIFIL observers have kept the terrorists updated and abreast of IDF movements.

The UN has a dismal track record when in comes to peacekeeping no matter where it has gone. It is not just an "Israel - Lebanon" thing.
Personally speaking, I would not lay the blame at the peacekeepers who were there themselves (unless there was some colusion between them and Hizbollah). They are merely following orders from the UN itself and are outmatched and outclassed by Hizbollah. (Imagine what Hizbollah would do to a UN peacekeeper who tried to actually stop them from aquiring those 10-12 thousand rockets.)

It was reported today that the U.N. peacekeepers there had videotaped the kidnapping of the Israeli soldiers, and hid / denied the tape. Now, they admit they lied, and have the tape, and did nothing to stop the kidnappings! The U.N. is nothing but a bunch of DO-NOTHING, INEFFECTUAL, BLOATED POLITICIANS that need to be disbanded, and sent home!

Do you think you could have done any better? At least the U.N.
tries to bring about peaceful resolutions,which is more than can be said for some nation-states. Better and try and fail than to sit back and point fingers.
