I've had a tattoo for seven years, and most of my friends have them. It depends on how big, and how many colors. Mine had about 3 colors, but was small. It cost me $80 in Chicago. Depending on where you live, $50 sounds about right.
Think carefully about where you want it. Do you want it to be visible at all? Will it stretch? (most likely, at a place like your hip/stomach) How much will it stretch, based on its size? (if it's really small, probably not much)
The only thing I regret is that I got mine in a place on my back that is always covered up. Usually you can't even see it when I'm in a swimsuit. Otherwise, I love it & I figure when I'm 80, it will still be part of me & will remind me of being young & having fun! :) Good luck!

I have 8 tattoos myself and they are all in places I can cover up if necessary. If you are planning on kids that is probably not the best place to get it. How about on your back?
Here in California a lot of places have a $50 minimum since they have to use new needles, etc for each client. If you are talking around quarter size it would probably be $50.

I don't know your version of small but I have a medium size butterfly with roses on my right hip and it cost around $70 to get. The price depends on the establishment you get it at. I got mine after I had my kids...but if you are having it in a place where no one will see it besides you and your SO then that is up to you.

My first piece of advice is DON"T GET A TATTOO! Most people live to regret them.
Second - if you have to get one to show your individuality - just like all your friends did - make sure you get something that you really want - and that you will really want for the rest of your life. A friend of mine got a band logo tattoo - they ended up being a one hit wonder.
Third- if you can think of a tattoo that you really need to have on your body for the rest of your life - you shouldn't worry about what its gonna cost. You can spend fifty bucks and get a tattoo you will regret for the rest of your life, or three hundred dollars on something that you might think is cool for the rest of your life. I've seen some crappy tattoos that people got because they were cheap.
Some practical advice - figure out what you want - exactly what you want - write it down or draw it - including where you want to put it. Take a picture of that part of your body. Get that tattoo on that part of your body five years from now if you still NEED to have it. This will give you time to save CASH to pay for it also.

I have a tattoo on my stomach/hip and I would not reccomend it. It's not so much the stretching, but if you get stretch marks and one goes through the tattoo, it looks really nasty. Besides very few women have sexy stomachs after giving birth therefor you can't show off your tat. I think tattoo's on the ankle are very cute. Please don't do the breasts either, same scenerio. I would go for the ankle, or you could go for more of the pubic area, like the crease of your leg by your pubic bone.

One rule I have with my son (who wanted a tattoo when he was younger) was to wait a year. A tattoo is permanent and you should be sure you want something on you for the rest of your life... So give it a while.
And yes, there are areas where stretching is a problem. I have mine on my shoulder blades, upper left arm and forearms. My son's are on each shoulder. They can be covered by a shirt when needed and the skin there doesn't stretch as much as other areas.

I think it would look super cute! Most tattoo artist you can haggle with. If he say's $60.00 - say ok thankyou, The guy at such n such said he would do it for $45.00 and just wait a sec. 90% of the time they'll work with ya on it. Yea your skin will stretch when you get prego but it's not such a big deal that I wouldn't get the tattoo because of it! It'll still look great.

I have two rules for myself about tattoos. The first is I will never get one that I can't cover in order to work in the professional world...(whatever career I decide on next...lol) and the second is I will never get a ta too somewhere that could get fat.
I feel like those are pretty good rules. Unfortunately, put together they basically leave me with my feet. But they're pretty decorated feet...lol :)
Cost wise, $50 sounds about right.
Hope this helps.....Good Luck!

no it is not a Good enough reasoning not to get one , depending on the size you shouldn't spend much over thirty dollars for it.

It would be enough for me not to get it. Those things look trashy enough, but when they get all stretched out, they look really nasty.
