You live in the USA, just follow the herd.

Everybody wants to drive SUV, no matter they will never be drove off road.
Follow the herd, in USA, they love V8 engines.
And Japanese cars.

Now, if you need a car to transport you from point A to B, alone, the car must be small, must be 3 or 4 Cylinder. Don't need a SUV
Think in a Toyota Yarvis, Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Mazda 3, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cobalt, VW Rabbit, Chevrolet Aveo, Suzuki Aerio, Dodge Caliber, Chrysler PT Cruiser, even a Chevrolet HHR, Suzuki Forenza, Hyundai Accent, Mini Cooper, Scion xA.

OK, since you live in the USA, and you need to have and drive and SUV, why not the New Jeep
Compass, at least is small.

From what I know and what my friend has told me who has been working on chevys for a while now, that is the worst vehicle you can buy. Ever since GM started geting into money problems like in 97 or so, their over all product has gone down. I'm a Ford guy myself which is why it pains me to say that Toyota would be your best truck in your situation. It's a great truck and you should be happy with it.

got to be Toyota! I have two friends with toyota's and one has 500,000 miles and the other has 400,000. I have one with 250,000 and all I have had wrong was the starter, so far. It is a 1981 4x4. I have been in many places with it that chevy''s and other 4x4's couldn't get to. Buy one and see for yourself.

And for good gas mileage, I'd suggest:

Toyota RAV4
or
Honda CRV

Probably the 2 most dependable, smart-looking, good-mileage, good trade-in value: and if you maintain them properly, they'll go for 200,000 miles.
