My Fake Wedding by Mina Ford -- I nearly peed my pants laughing so hard. Plus, I walked around for like three weeks thinking entirely in British slang.
Also, anything by: Sophie Kinsella, Jane Green, Helen Fielding, Alexandra Potter, Sarah Mlynowski (well, she's an American, but it's basically the same genre, different accent).

because you want Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella, you need to take exhilaration in Sarah Mlynowski's chick lit books for adults, consisting of Fishbowl and Milkrun, or Jennifer Weiner's books, consisting of particular women and the guy no longer Taken. wish this helps.

Have you read Marian Keyes books? Watermelon is a great one to start with. She has quite a few and delightfully different than what I've been reading. They are set in Ireland or London - depending on book.

Definitely read Marian Keyes - I don't generally read chick lit but I'll read her books. I laugh out loud at her books, but cried too at the latest, Anybody Out There?
