Whereas blacks used to be portrayed as exotic, foolish and childlike, today they are portrayed as menacing, gun-toting drug addicts or as hypersexual pimps and whores. Examples include the following

Pathetic. An embarassment. Whatever happened to spreading a good ****** message and having fun? Now its all about this "bling" **** and degrading women and glorifying slums ghettos... what the **** is that? If I were a rapper, I'd want to steer my people away from that ****, and have them want to get out of the ghetto and live a better life. Pure garbage and bullshit. Why dont they do something useful with their money instead of spending it on expensive wine and **** and buy themselves an education?

I believe you approximately 50 cent, his first mainstream album exchange into good too (get wealthy or die tryin). clarification why hip hop is in its state its in is using young infants those days, its a distinctive era. They dont be attentive to what its prefer to enhance up and hear A Tribe referred to as Quest, Dr. Dre, Biggie, 2pac and so on. i think of what quite began the downhill slope exchange into Lil Jon...It paved the way for rubbish rappers to come back from the south and say some corny stuff and individuals could like it basically by using beats. There are some good rappers like TI and Ludacris from the south, yet maximum are rubbish, inclusive of Lil Wayne and the subject is he floods the streets with rubbish and brainwashing human beings a week! yet another massive subject you touched on is human beings putting acouple good songs on the album and something is rubbish and its obtrusive that they concentration on good commercial songs to make funds on albums, good occasion of that's Jadakiss, has good songs on radio yet then his total albums are rubbish.

I think its sad! Rap used to be violence free, and in Eminem's words: "There was once a time you could say a rhyme and you wouldn't have to worry about one of your people dying." And many people know how bad the rap business has become from rivalries and jealousy. Especially between Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., that was a tragedy. I think that either the rivalries should end because innocent people are getting killed, or the whole rap business ends, and I'm a big fan of rap.

I grew up in the 80's and I loved hip hop, I play the old stuff for my 13 yo son, but no way would I let him listen to the crap that plays now, no way! I think hip hop has lost its roots. Whatever happend to guys like Heavy D, Rob BASS, for the new stuff, most of it is junk in my opinion, just hollow.

The current state of Hip Hop is soooo bad...it's barely clinging to life.... About every rap song today being played by mainstream media is garbage... About every rap album that comes out now is garbage... Every rapper today is a clichè of another...Hip Hop aint like it was in the 90's, there was a lot of originality, creativity, diversity, and about damn near every album that came out was a classic...

MTV and BET doesn't focus on that **** anymore, now it's all about who got the most money, the most grillz, the most women... Hip Hop aint about that...it never was...Sadly Hip Hop has become what the mainstream used to percieve it to be....

Hip Hop needs to go back to them days, when Nas came out with "Illmatic". when Wu-Tang Clan took people through "36 Chambers", when Pete Rock "Reminisced", when Geto Boys' "Mind's Played Tricks On Them", when Biggie was "Ready To Die", and so on....

Hip Hop barely has that anymore now, now what it has Lil' Jon, Young Joc, D4L, DFB, and that awful "Chicken Noodle" song....

Truely but Sadly, Hip Hop is DEAD....

But thank God for that Ghostface Killah album and that Lupe Fiasco album...

also that and Lord Jamar album and that Murs' album....

I think in general R&B/hip hop/rap music these days seems to be really demeaning to women. Every music video nowadays has half naked women dancing like strippers and acting completely unclassy. Not only that, but their music also gives off the idea that, like you said, all black people (in order to be "cool") need to carry a gun, wear thousands of dollars worth of "bling", dress in baggy clothes, say words like "*****", and call their women "bitches". Thats just how I see it, and I completely hate it.

I believe that the current state of hip hop is falling where politics want it to be. If you don't agree, just read the Willie Lynch speech.

Rap use to be so much better. Now all they talk about is "grind up on me" "let's have sex", it is all geared toward teenage girls now and that's their audience. Before it was all about partying and drinking and doing drugs and just toward anyone.
