I bought a USB Transfer Cable to transfer music from PC to PC but it refuses to work. Can some one guide me step-by-step on how to do this? It came with a software but it never detects the other computer.

1. You may want to try reinstalling the software on both computers.
2. You may want to go to the manufactures website for more support/assistance.
3. If both computers have an ethernet card you may want to get a Crossover Ethernet cable, not the same as the one that you connect to a router.

Better you connect the two computers by cross cables
start- settings - network connections
In that Left corner, Create new connection - next - Setup an Advanced Connection - Connect directly to the computer -By guest or host
Then, Transfer your files

Are you using Direct Link Cable, as below? Otherwise, it will not really detect each other.
Check also some guidelines at usbgear.
