I don't know but people always call me that and they never use those other words, like pretty, drop dead gorgeous etc. I think it just means if you look good but not in a conventional, perfect kind of way. If you have high cheekbones and your face is more or less even on both sides, you're good looking. If I thought a guy was good looking but I didn't like him, I would call him that. If I did like him, maybe I would call him a hot babe.

when i say someone is good looking i mean that the person has great features, the kind of features i like and that they are of an approachable appearance

I mean to tell them that they are very appealing to the eye by telling them that they're good looking.

well its hard to say. it depends on the person saying it and who they are saying it to. you can tell someone that they are good looking and just say it so you wont hurt their feelings. now if you say it to someone that you like it could be a compliment.
