i've heard many people tell me homosexuality is a choice. i've heard many people tell me it is what you are born with. some people even say it is passed down through a gene. well, for those who care, my theory...
out of all the above theories people use to explain homosexuality, i believe none of them. none of these theories have been proven so they remain what they are; theories.
being a religious person, i cannot believe that God would create a person to be homosexual when He destroyed a city (according to the bible) full of homosexuals doing homosexual acts. God offered them a warning and they did not stop engaging in homosexuals acts, so, "ka-pow"
i also find it hard to believe it is a choice. i admit, even i did not chose to be straight. and the whole gene theory is whack to me since there is no proof of this gene.
what i do believe is this: (continued on additional details)

i believe that homosexuality is a subconcious choice made by the brain and not by the person themselves. and not just homosexuality, heterosexuality as well
i don't know exacly what influences this subconcious choice, but i believe something does do it.
it may be many things together. appearently, heterosexuality seems to be the most common influence.
i also believe that traits passed down plays a part in this, but i am definately NOT saying it is the main cause.
if a guy is gay people say he was born with low testosterone. i believe this is partly true.
if a guy is born with low testosterone, i think it may help influence him to be gay, but will not do it alone.
i may add more later...

I totally agree. I never say I was born this way because I don't know that I was. I just say that I never choose anything. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. And I don't know enough about science or genetics or the subconscious mind to have a theory of my own, I just don't buy the strict born vs choice dichotomy.
I mean even it if was a choice, why shouldn't gay relationships be treated as equal? And there are plenty of queer theorists that think the way you do.

Wow come out of the closet babe the right man could fix all this for ya ....lol
. In order to see what is natural, we must look to nature. In nature, every mammal has been observed taking part in same-sex activities, affection, and bonding. In some animals, homosexuality increases during times of overpopulation—sort of nature's birth control.
In nature, by the way, what is decidedly not natural is monogamy—especially for life. The only mammals who even sometimes mate for life are foxes, wolves, gibbons, beavers, dik-diks, coyotes, elephant shrews, and geese. Some animals mate for a season; most animals mate and move on.
I stuck to mammals for this example because the lower forms of life—while natural—are positively inhuman. You could say, for example, that the praying mantis "mates for life" only because, while the male shudders in orgasm, the female bites his head off. Then she eats him. The male praying mantis is an animal that comes and goes at the same time. Maybe that's why he's always praying. We all know how the black widow spider becomes a widow and why there is no such thing as a black widower (some animals get so hungry after sex).
From a purely human point of view, homosexual behavior has been recorded in every culture that kept detailed enough records. Sociologists and anthropologists have documented homosexual behavior in every country on earth—including in tribes that had no contact with outside human beings until the arrival of the anthropologists. Any behavior observed among all races, all peoples, all cultures, and in all countries throughout all recorded time must certainly be considered natural for humans.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO PROVE THIS SO MUCH IS IT FOR YOURSELF ...drop the religion babe and live your life

Darling bigballer,
Your theory is based on your uneducated, biased opinion.
It doesn't matter what you think about homosexuality. It doesn't matter what anybody thinks about homosexuality.
It doesn't matter if it is a choice or if for some unknown reason people are born gay.
What does matter is that you are exhibiting compulsive and obsessive behavior regarding homosexuality. I suggest that you find a better way to occupy your intellect and time.
Only a small part of society cares as much as you do about the who, what, where, when, and why of homosexuality. Can you understand how unhealthy that is?

First, let me express how happy I am that you don't buy into the foolishness that gays would consciously choose something that makes them social outcasts and objects of hate. There's a word for people like that. They're masochists, not homosexuals.
I must, however, quibble with your understanding of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you read Genesis 19, yes, it tells a story of a mob of raging men who wanted to "know" (in KJV, at least) the two angels Lot was giving shelter to. I'm not going to tell you that "know" here means "to become friends with." The Hebrew word can mean either that or "to have sex with," and I think it's fairly obvious that Moses (who presumably wrote Genesis, for anyone reading this who doesn't know) didn't mean the first meaning, or he wouldn't bother telling the story in the first place. But homosexuality isn't Sodom's sins.
Ezekiel 16.49-51 says: "And look at the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters were proud, sated with food, complacent in their prosperity, and they gave no help to the poor and needy. Rather, they became haughty and committed abominable crimes in my presence; then, as you have seen, I removed them. Samaria did not commit half your sins! You have done more abominable things than they, and have even made your sisters appear just, with all the abominable deeds you have done."
This verse seems to state that the reasons Sodom was destroyed were pride, gluttony, and greed. It doesn't say anything about homosexuality. Nowhere in the Bible except Genesis 19 does it talk about Sodom and homosexuality. Sodom with other sins? Sure.
The problem in Genesis 19 isn't that the crowd wants to have sex with the angels. As far as the crowd knows, these two angels are mere strangers who certainly aren't from Sodom. Historically, a way one group had of showing dominance over another was by raping them. The Sodomites were merely wanting to express their cultural dominance over the two angels. The lesson in Genesis 19 is a lesson about inhospitality. Of course, what the Sodomites wanted to do was deplorable. Raping anyone, regardless of their sex and regardless of whether they're guests, is obviously wrong.
But enough on Sodom, because that's really not so important.
Subconcious choice? I'm with you there—kind of. I get equally irritated by those who say "It's a choice" and by those who scream back "No it's NOT!" in reply. It seems fairly obvious to me that it's stupid to reduce such a complex thing as human sexuality down to a mere black and white thing. I think there are genetic factors ("nature") that may predispose a certain individual to homosexuality. I think there are certain factors of "nurture" that may also predispose someone to homosexualiy. I think there are certain subconscious elements. Some people, I think, mostly chose to be gay (kind of silly). Some people simply chose not to fight being gay (I'm one of those). Some people are gay enough that if you try to ex-gay them, they're going to be further harmed psychologically by the therapy than the would be were they allowed to live life as a homosexual.
As to your thinking that a guy born with low testosterone may be more likely to be gay... Research says anything but that. Many studies find very little correlation between testosterone and sexuality. Some find that guys born with abnormally high or abnormaly low testosterone are more likely to be gay. I know I've known plenty of gay guys with plenty of testosterone. I've also known those who seem to have less. It's simple human variation. Maybe it's another of the influences toward sexuality... But it doesn't seem so important.
Hope that helps.

Okay, my rather confusing Son, settle down and have a nice cup of tea. I'll tell you what made me "Happy" (I like happy..it's cheerful) I found my Best Beloved. I looked into her eyes and knew that this was the person I was waiting for. We both knew it. It didn't matter that both of us were in women's bodies. All it mattered was that we were now together. Before that, I was confusingly sort of heterosexually innocent. I found Love and that's all that has ever mattered.
Well, that was me. Now on to you. You're confused because your body tells you one thing, your brain another and your religion a third (if not fourth and fifth). The whole point of your question is to try and figure the whole mess out for yourself. Good luck, dear. I hope you find what you're looking for
(by the by, God and I are on great terms together. We love each other and keep religion out of it)

Don't bother adding more later. You acknowledge that you do not know the answer, but then you create a grand theory. One wonders why you care enough to write so much. Well, I have a theory, too, and it is just as valid as yours: you are homosexual and are having trouble facing the fact, so you try to concoct a way to try to save yourself from having to face the fact. Sorry, but it won't work. And please stop hijacking the Bible for your own flights of fancy. You make yourself look ridiculous. I am sure a smart fellow like you has more constructive ways to use his time.

I thinky your theory is a crock...like most people who keep coming in here waiving their bibles. If God created us all, and He makes no mistakes, then he created homosexuals.
read this....and then ask your questions again....

HETEROSEXUAL QUESTIONNAIRE
(©1972, Martin Rochlin, Ph.D. Reprinted with permission from the author.)
This questionnaire is for self-avowed heterosexuals only. If you are not openly heterosexual, pass it on to a friend who is. Please try to answer the questions as candidly as possible. Your responses will be held in strict confidence and your anonymity fully protected.
1. What do you think caused your heterosexuality?
2. When and how did you first decide you were a heterosexual?
3. Is it possible your heterosexuality is just a phase you may grow out of?
4. Could it be that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?
5. If youve never slept with a person of the same sex, how can you be sure you wouldnt prefer that?
6. To whom have you disclosed your heterosexual tendencies? How did they react?
7. Why do heterosexuals feel compelled to seduce others into their lifestyle?
8. Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Cant you just be what you are and keep it quiet?
9. Would you want your children to be heterosexual, knowing the problems theyd face?
10. A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual men. Do you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual male teachers, pediatricians, priests, or scoutmasters?
11. With all the societal support for marriage, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships among heterosexuals?
12. Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex?
13. Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual?
14. Could you trust a heterosexual therapist to be objective? Dont you fear s/he might be inclined to influence you in the direction of her/his own leanings?
15. Heterosexuals are notorious for assigning themselves and one another rigid, stereotyped sex roles. Why must you cling to such unhealthy role-playing?
16. With the sexually segregated living conditions of military life, isnt heterosexuality incompatible with military service?
17. How can you enjoy an emotionally fulfilling experience with a person of the other sex when there are such vast differences between you? How can a man know what pleases a woman sexually or vice-versa?
18. Shouldnt you ask your far-out straight cohorts, like skinheads and born-agains, to keep quiet? Wouldnt that improve your image?
19. Why are heterosexuals so promiscuous?
20. Why do you attribute heterosexuality to so many famous lesbian and gay people? Is it to justify your own heterosexuality?
21. How can you hope to actualize your God-given homosexual potential if you limit yourself to exclusive, compulsive heterosexuality?
22. There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you to change if you really want to. After all, you never deliberately chose to be a heterosexual, did you? Have you considered aversion therapy or Heterosexuals Anonymous?

Just to catch you up on the story of the destruction of Sodom. Those men were not homosexuals. They were a mad disorderly gang on thugs who committed gang - rape on the two angels who were disguised as traveling strangers. Rape, any kind of rape, is not a sexual act, it is an act of violence.
God passed sentence on the people of Sodom and destroyed the city because they failed to show hospitality to strangers. Such was a law handed down to those who lived in the desert, for without hospitality, a stranger would certainly perish. There is no suggestion in the story that would suggest any of those men had affectional or sexual preferences for men. Neither is there any evidence that they had performed sex with men before that time, nor that he had warned them about homosexuality. Simply that they were without righteousness.

Ha, ha! That's very funny! Thanks for making me laugh. You should write fiction - or science fiction. Hilarious. And your theory about low testosterone is very flawed since gay men usually have a high libido, which indicates the juice is flowing very nicely. You'll never get it unless you're gay - so stop trying to explain it. Maybe you should work on explaining why you're straight.
P.S. Sodom and Gomorrah had nothing to do with homosexuality - that's a lie continuously perpetuated by paranoid homophobes.

I think I'm perfectly satisfied with what I am, that I'm not going to worry about it, and I don't really much care about theories or arguments.
If I don't like your nose, I might decide to offer you a theory about how you should have it operated on or fixed. You'd probably consider that an affront because it's none of my business. You might even consider it an insult. You might even say, "Who the h*** do you think you are?"
And you'd be exactly right.
