How bad is the situation in Seattle and is the team asking too much to stay?

The owners are saying all the right things right now, but unless Seattle ponies up with a new stadium, they will be out the door. There is at least one market now hungry for a team (Okla. City) and a few others who have been pursuing one (St. Louis comes immediately to mind), and if they bow to the whims of the new owners, that's where they will go.

The same thing happened with the Memphis Grizzlies....new owner takes over in Vancouver, he doesn't want to keep them there but doesn't come right out and say it, and lo and behold, out of nowhere, they apply to move to Memphis, because we've promised a new stadium, and FedEx gives gobs of naming rights fees for the new building straight to the new owners.

Unfortunately, that's the name of the game, these days.

very very slim...Oklahoma City is hungry for an NBA team after hosting the Hornets. If the Hornets leave for good, the Sonics will fill their spot. All the owners want the Sonics in OKC, the Ford Center is ready to support a major sports team, and the fans in OKC are ready for an NBA team.

i do no longer think of its a slap interior the face. I observed a learn of how human beings from distinctive aspects of the country. Watched basketball greater advantageous than others. Seattle became between the backside of the states. So i do no longer think of a lot of human beings right here particularly care that lots. And plus, they have already desperate to circulate. there is no going back.

38% chance that they will stay. The situation is bad enough that the old owners bailed out. The team must not be asking for too much b/c the commisioner is backing them.

I think the Sonics stay put. The new ownership there might ponie up the dough for a new arena, although Key Arena is still relatively new. Oklahoma City is less than ideal for an NBA franchise, although the Hornets did draw very well there.

Can you say Oklahoma City? Not good. Stern needs to take stern action, but he won't. They wanted the Hornets, but that won't happen. Too much sympathy. I am from Portland. If Seatlle goes so will Portand. Paul Allen owns the Seahawks. If the Sonics move he will move the Blazers to Seattle. This league has no clue. We are in the same boat and it is sinking.
