Could be a dead battery. Eventually, they will lose their ability to be charged.

If the unit is under warranty, take it in for service. Otherwise, decide whether or not the battery is actually necessary.

Personally, I have been running my laptop without a battery for about a year now. Why? Don't actually need it for day-to-day use.

Could also be the charging circuit, so a quick diagnosis by a competant laptop technician should be able to give you a good idea.

sorry to say but your battery is fry. Batteries only last for about one year. Its all about the chemical inside the battery that dies off after using it for several times. And if your laptop heats up then you better not use it for long or use a fan under your laptop, i mean a bg fan. Thats what i do.

The AC Adaptor may be defective or not a high enough voltage. Most Dell Latitudes for example, run much better and recharge the battery faster on a 90 Watt AC.

is the power cable together ok?.. if it is ok. the battery must be old and needs to be replaced.. it's like ipod batteries where after so many charge ups it doesn't work anymore like what the person above me said i agree with him.. so maybe that's it.... when i use (use to use) my laptop i would always use the plug/cable for my power. i would only use the battery when i needed to like if i went out side or in the car.

If you notebook is getting power from the plug with no problem then the connectors are either dirty, bent/damaged, or the battery may be defective.
