Mortified? No. I'm not even surprised. He's had type two Diabetes for a while now and according to his sister, wasn't very good at taking his medication regularly.
That's not to say I don't think it's tragic and sad, just hardly shocking.
No members of Pink Floyd attended the funeral at the request of the family to avoid any attention from the press and keep the affair private. Even if this weren't the case, none of them had any contact with Barrett whatsoever in over 30 years.
They have, however, been in contact with the family and are discussing reforming one more time for a tribute concert.

Aw, chuffed Birthday Syd, sort of, hahaha. i'm satisfied he died in a feeling, he lead an extremely lonely and unhappy existence for what all of us recognize. Solo: Golden Hair, PF - Lucifer Sam. 2 random songs in a pile of super ones. :D

I heard that and it did shock me I also heard that no one from Pink Floyd was at his service either. That's what they said on the radio today at least.
