Most of the criticism is about protecting the troops. I just find this a very slick way to tarnish anyone who criticizes Bush, to equate that with failing our troops. What happened to

the biggest problem is that people who say they support the troops but do not support the president are making it harder for us to win the war.

I do not care if someone is against the reasons for going to war what I have a problem with is people making a political issue saying the president lied.

When we are at war it is time to get behind the president and show a united front. This is the fastest and best way to get the troops home. It also solves the problem now so we do not have to keep dealing with it.

Bickering only makes the enemy think that America will run as soon as it has an election.

But then there are no conservatives left in the democratic party so maybe we will tuck tail and run.

Best way to stay off a bully is make him think you are stronger than him.

ever see a bully attack a Quarterback,

We are the Quarterback of the world, we are the one everyone looks to. if we act weak people will attack.

when we do not show a strong front we look weak to our enemies.

whether our leaders agree or not, all disagreement should be behind closed doors not played out in the press for the world to see.

and after we have achieved victory, which we will, as long as the politicians do not pull the troops out like in Vietnam. if the politicians still feel Bush was wrong, try him for war crimes. but wait till the boys have won the war and are brought home.

The troops I here from do not feel that those who disrespect their leader support them, you must understand that the military is very rigid in it command. and they feel an attack on the president is an attack on them... they feel the president is the commander and chief and the face of America in the world and they respect him and serve his leadership.

They also feel this is the right thing to do and they are proud that they are helping free a nation. and to say that the reason we are there is wrong and the president was wrong only disrespects them and there feelings that this is right.

I hear people say wars never solve anything but, The Japanese are friendly to us. The whole continent of Europe does not speak German. and there is no more major wars in Europe between Germany, France and England.

America gets along with England and we are a free nation.

Slavery in the US was abolished and after we abolished it we helped change the world so fewer nations have slavery.

When we win wars we establish peace with the nations we have defeated. and these nations are experiencing long lasting peace.

I don't think that strategy is working any more. Even the staunch Bush supports (excepting the insane religious right fanatics of course, and the KKK) now realize that keeping our troops in Iraq is putting them in danger, not protecting our freedoms.

The Rove machine is wearing down; it's not as effective as it was in 2004 to simply tell everyone to be terrified and to stay with the policies of a man who has no regard for our constitution, and no understanding of what it is to be an American.

Hopefully enough eyes will be open by November that we will be able to turn at least the Senate, and put a break on the insanity, dishonesty and illegal actions of this administration.

Thats because most people who criticize the president also belittle and demonize the troops. Think McCaine and Kerry.
Why criticize the president? Those who do either don't have an alternate plan or can only use the ones that have already failed numerous times.

I know people in the military and I honestly believe the best way to support the troops is to bring them home to their families. The argument you describe is basic conservative propaganda that has been used for hundreds of years to keep people in line with supporting presidents while their is on-going military efforts.

Just like the next comment after mine will likely say if you pull out of Iraq you will be insulting the dead and wounded... these tired arguments don't allow for any debate and they are over simplifications of the issues. But for most conservative simpletons its the way they look at the world, they prefer a fantasy world where there is no nuance or abstract ideas, just idealism and blind faith in their leaders.

Well, what are they going to do? Point to all of the good things Bush is doing as president to win their argument?? They have to make you look bad somehow, so what better way than to equate you to not supporting those that are laying down their lives for our country??

The majority of people who say you are failing our troops by criticizing the war are benefitting from the war and want to continue. They are in a position of power, and can try to influence the American people.

With you and I, and everyone I know, it is not working. We know when our president is letting us down.

My son has returned from his tour of duty, and is now a citizen. You can express your thanks to the troops below.

You can't support the troops without supporting their mission.

Yes I agree. I am proud to be Republican ( not conservative) and I despise that rhetoric too. it does make the Republicans look bad.

Its as bad as saying because one is Republican that he/she likes war. Look at the statistics of US wars and the party of the President. It is really irrelevant.
