I have a cottage that I go to every week-end form Friday night to Sunday night and all my fish tanks go without food for that time. I have a saltwater and two tropical fish tanks and a bit of regular fasting never hurt any of the fish.

You fish will be fine for a couple of days without food. Don't feed anything other than food designed for bettas, as they need certain vitamins and nutrients that aren't always found in regular fish food.

Good luck with your new little guy!

I've bred betta's for years. You should only feed them 2 or 3 times a week anyway. I wouldnt worry about not having anything for them right away.

If its been a while, reg fish food will work in the meantime, otherwise, betta food is the way to go. I have found that bloodworms keep my betta's healthy for a long time.

Good luck!

Bettas are carnivores and should be fed a flake, or pellet that lists worms/shrimp/fish as it's primary ingredent. If you want to give him a treat freeze dried brine shrimp, or blood worms are good. (Avoid live or frozen as it can carry diease.) Honestly more people kill their bettas over feeding than under feeding. The little guy will happily eat himself to death. (If you are giving him more food than the size his eye your over feeding.) Don't use crackers as bettas are pretty finky eaters, and uneaten food will foul his bowl. Personally I only feed my bettas 5-6 days a week. Then one day of fasting, and a bit of a peeled cooked pea the next. (The pea clears out their digestive track.) Don't stress if he's healthly he can go a week without food

PS- You should read up on betta care. (see link)

one day isnt really going to hurt him. just make sure you get to the store and get some asap. they really do like their own food, the beta food, but if you have other fish food laying around, you can surely add some to the bowl.

Betta's are just fine without food for a day. Most fish can go quite some time without eating. I wouldn't worry at all about one day.

Quickley how long has it been and since you just got it it was probably fed by where you bought it. So They mainly eat only fish food. Sorry, but go to the pet store. and also the betta fish isn't acting not normal then it's fine
