You have to have hands. Acceleration is very important, probably more important than overall speed. Acceleration helps with route running, good accerleration will get you into and out of your cuts quickly. Height always helps. You don't really have to block all that much; usually WR's are decoys to run off the DB and get the S out of position. However, on sweeps your assignment could be to crack down on the outisde or inside LB or DE, but they usually don't see you coming. You will block safeties at times. Blocking DB's is fun, it's commonly called 'Chicken Fights' because it involves lots of slapping and pushing. The best way to block a DB is hold them close and block their view (the referee generally won't see the hold), when try to slide away, let go of their shoulder pad and shove them so you won't get called for the hold. Heh heh. Cheating 101.

You need to practice your running and stamina. Doing jukes and spins will help alot. And the main is your catching, it plays a role in your game.

Run crisp routes, catch the ball, and also know how to block DBs.
