My daughter was about your age when she asked me if she could shave. I really thought she should have shaved a bit sooner, but I was waiting for it to bother her, and for her to come to me first. She asked me, and was shocked when I brought her home a little basket of embarassables..lol..with soaps, deodorants, shavers, bubble bath.. bras... pads.. etc.. She started her period when she was 8!!! What an ackward age for her, so young. But we made it through, and so will you.
Best Wishes,
Barbara

Be straight up with your mom. She will hook you up with the right supplies. I was "too scared" to tell my mom about my period (when I was 11). So for YEARS, I snuck around, buying pads when I went out with friends, just so I wouldn't have to tell my mom I had my period. My mom didn't catch on until I was 17, and one of my girlfriends and I were talking about our periods. Yeah... So, seriously, just be straight with her. She's gonna be sad because it means her little girl is becoming a woman and stuff, but hopefully she will remember how she felt when she was 11 with increasingly hairy legs.
I know how you feel! I'm French Canadian. We have super hairy legs. :( When I was 11, we had a family reunion on Cape Cod... summer time, bathingsuit time. My cousin, who was also 11, called me on my hairy legs. I was sooooo upset, and soooo embarassed. :( I went into our hotel room, and used my mom's rasor and soap to shave my legs. When my mom found out, it was already done. Obviously, it's not a good idea to share rasors. It's also best if you use shaving gel. The other thing is, once you start shaving, you have to keep it up, because the hair grows back thicker, darker, and coarser! :( If you have light blond leg hairs, wait another year or so before you shave. If you're like me and you have long, thick, dark leg hairs, shave, girl, shave. You will figure it out. Go slow, don't butcher your legs. Make sure you always put lotion on when you're done! I like Skintimate shaving gel, mach turbo rasor (it's made for mens' faces, so it gets knee and ankle curves really well) after i shave, I put on that hair reducing lotion by Jergens, it helps me shave 1/2 as often. Congrats on the shaving!

You are only 11 years old how hairy can your legs be and why is it so embarrassing? Did some boy make a comment to you? Boys and even girls at that age say a lot of things, kids your age are mean and cruel with each other. I think your mom would feel honored if you spoke to her about this.Your mom is getting to see her little girl grow up. Talk to your mom. If you still feel funny how about and older sister, cousin, Aunt that you are close with, Good luck.

Hey, it was a bit awkward when I first asked my Mom but once you get it done you feel so much better. If you really don't feel like asking her, talk to a friend about it and ask them what you should say. I said: Hey mom, I want to know if it's okay to start shaving my legs because all the other girls don't have much hair on their's. It's really simple so don't get overwhelmed and just push yourself to do it. Good luck!

just sit down with your mom and say that your growing up and new things are happening and one of those things is hair growing on your legs. then just say that its embarrassing to have hairy legs. no doubt about it she'll have no problem with letting you shave. and if she doesnt let you, dont sweat it i started when i was your age but sometimes i dont really feel like shaving alot of the time cuz it takes me so long.

this is not the serious drama you are making it out to be really! go talk to your mom about it and explain how it makes you feel to have hairy legs and why you want to shave (not because everyone else is doing it) so go have a cup of tea and chat it up with mommy good luck

Just tell her that it really bothers you to have hairy legs. I started shaving at 11 and it greatly improved my life lol. Hairy legs drove me crazy.

I think 11 years old is a fine time to start shaving. You shluld tell your mom how you feel and ask her when she started. If she says no, just be cool, and ask again in a couple of months. Good luck honey!

Go ahead and ask her. I started shaving mine when I was your age without asking first (because I was scared like you are!) and she found out anyway, so you may as well just ask in the beginning. Good luck, and be careful! I still have a scar on my knee from the first time I shaved... **ouch**
