I had a normal period on May 18th.
No period in June.
Started on July 4th with a dark brown discharge, had clots, on day three it went to a normal looking period, but by day 4 it was back to dark brown.
Started back up with a dark brown/black discharge on July 23rd with large clots. I am continuing to have this as of yet.
Horrible, at times unbearable cramping. Has woke me out of a dead sleep a couple of times.
I went to the doctor, NO STD'S and NOT PREGNANT.
I am 30 years old, have had three c section babies, no medications, no abnormal stress, very little or no weight gain, no new excersize program.
I can't get in to see an gyno until next month. ANY IDEAS?

I spoke to my doc TODAY about a similar issue. He said sometimes women get cysts that burst and cause unusual bleeding and pain.

Worry about it only if you experience that kind of pain beyond your period or if you have fever.

I'm not a medical professional but I do have some facts and ideas on this subject.

When you have a period that is brown to dark brown it is only because it is taking longer then normal to pass through your vagina and as it looses oxygen its color will change. Its completely normal.

These could all be symptoms of stress. Any abnormal activity could be stressing you out. It could even be an unhealthy lifestyle. If you eat wrong and dont get enough nutrients you need, things do go wrong. You may not even be excercising enough.

You may be experiencing stress and not know it.

Some women are irregular. There is nothing wrong with it, it is just how your body goes through a cycle.

NOW dont take this to offense, I dont think your old or anything, but your body could be slowing down and getting ready for menopause. It is possible. You have had three kids. Its an opinion x_X

Good luck. Just be sure to see your gyno!

Most women go through this. Not normal. Clots are not normal. Blood flow should be red to start with and then fade, Is your blood flow heavy? Could be the start of endometriousis. Increase your protein. Add an extra serving of red meat to your diet once a week until you are seen. Increase your water intake to at least 80 ounces a day. Good Luck.
Stay away from Motrin/Aspirin products they tend to thin the blood prolonging the periods

Call the gyn and ask them to put you on as on-call basis. Sounds like you are concerned. You said you went to the doctor who said no STD or pregnancy, so what did s/he suggest? Why can't you go back to that doctor?

In the meantime, try hot packs on the stomach using a heating pad for no longer than fifteen minutes. Or, sit in a hot tub.

Fibroid tumors? Thats where you have really bad cramping and you bleed a lot and your period is heavy. It happens ages 30-40.

it's seriously nothing to worry about. it's probably hormones, and if the weather is humid it has a lot to do with that. believe me it's more common than you think.
