as in natural gas? no, it's intended to detect carbon monoxide from a poorly vented gas burning appliance.

call the gas co if you think you have a leak, they'll come out and test.

Carbon Monoxide is an orderless gas that you can't taste or smell. That's why they have detectors out now because to many people were dying of carbon monoxide poisoning. However, natural gas no it won't. One good point you should be aware of if you aren't already. Because it is also orderless and you can't smell it naturally the Gas Companies added a chemical to make it have the smell it we all so fondly are aware of. So if you smell it anywhere in your home you need to turn the Gas off and call the Gas Company because you probably have a leak somewhere in your home.

yes, it detects carbon monoxide (which is a gas).

however, it probably will not detect natural gas unless it has carbon monoxide.

my carbon monoxide detector went off when i farted next to it..actually no it didnt..but it would sure fool some fools out there andit would make a funny story. u're welcome
