Different ways, but most involve a "board" or capture device of some sort. I like TigerDirect and put a link below. Remember to get a LARGE harddrive or make dual layer DVD's.

depends on the degree of quality you want.
1st level (lowest) would be to set up a dvr (handicam) on a tripod in front of your tv, and tape whatever you want, then transfere this (via firewire or usb 2.0) to your comp'r. this is messy and at BEST the last option to use.
digital tranfere requires hardware (a device that encodes analog signals to digital (adc)and software. try some shareware app's. to find the 1 you like.

i had to go out and by a dvd recorder then i could play the tape off my tv while copying it to a dvd then put on pc
