Use at your own risk.. but WILL speed things up
Clean your start up
to do this.. follow these steps
Start
run
type "msconfig" no quotes
Click the tab far right that says "start up"
Uncheck anything that you dont use or dont reconize, just about.. make sure to leave anything that involves your virus scan.. if you see anyhting with weird names like asfoaoi just random lettering anyything random like that, its a virus uncheck it, run your virus scan and then use www.trendmicro.com i garantee this online virus scan will speed things up and find lots of spyware/viruse/problems its very good.
Next or rather, a really good thing to do is, theres a secret folder that temp files hide in and cause problems
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME HERE\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
or just go to your temporary internet files folder and at the end of the address at the top type \content.ie5 and delete everything that is in there except the index file, you cant delete that. Also make sure to have all web pages closed when doing this or you will get problems....
Try all these things and you will gain speed and remove lots of problems..
Good luck let us know how it goes.

Do disk cleanup and defrag (in homestead windows). Delete each and everything you do no longer choose or use, or shop it on a memory stick.. Then defrag returned. till you have a fix disk (you will deliver it decrease back to this is unique state and lose all your archives), or a homestead windows disk the place you may maintain modern-day archives you're caught. extra memory is the main in all probability thank you to strengthen velocity, yet quite you may tidy up first in the past spending.

If your computer was once fast and now it's slow, you have caught something.
You can get a free online scan at www.ewido.com.
Download and run both ad-Aware and Spybot, both free
comodo is a free antivirus

Two bits of information that is missing - how much free disk is available? and how much ram do you have?
If not enough ram, then it may be swapping out memory with every action - very bad performance-wise.
If not enough disk, then it may be having difficulty creating swapping areas.
