The action takes place in Helmer's house, presumeably in Norway.

Yes--Ibsen only specifies that it's the home of Torvald Helmer. Since he's a banker, and they can afford a couple of servants (plus he's getting a big promotion), it's a decent enough home, but "home" in this case is really a large apartment in a good building. (Remember, the Christmas party takes place in somebody elses apartment upstaris.) As for general location, they're in what you can assume is a mid-sized Norwegian city. (Nora confirms that Mrs. Linde has come up to town, having been out in the provinces for some time.) But it's never mentioned which city exactly.

The play takes place in Torvald Helmer's home, which is large and nice but in an apartment building. It is in a city and presumably in Norway.
