I am doing a research paper on Farewell to arms and one question asks about the main characters drinking and whether Hemingway drank aswell. Any real clues pointing to his alcoholism?

Hemingway loved to drink, you know from his letters, the drinks named after him, the many bios about him and how everyone is always drinking in his novels

It is thought by some that Hemingway not only drank excessively but also suffered from depression. I have read that John F. Kennedy asked Hemingway to write a poem or essay which was to be included in Mr. Kennedy's inaugural speech in 1961. When he was not able to come up with any words this triggered a depression and Hemingway's suicide followed.
