How do I get rid of white spots on my teeth? I had braces for 2 years and 3 months but I got them off about 3 years ago. I have always brushed after each meal, flossed at night, and used the special mouthwash they wanted me to use. However, I still have white spots on my teeth. They have improved, but how do I make them go away?

The "white spots" that you describe are probably areas of decalcification in the enamel caused by lack of brushing during your orthodontic treatment. The acids produced in the plaque initiates cavities in the enamel surface. This acid induces a white decalcified enamel spot or lesion to develop that becomes quite apparent when the orthodontic braces are removed. It is recommend that you speak with your dentist for treatment options which may include fluoride treatment, bonding and in severe cases porcelain laminate placement.

White spots in the nails are caused by trauma they will grow out as your nail begins to repair its self. Unfortunately there is no quick way to get rid of them. The best way to try and avoid them is to paint your nails with clear nail varnish every day for seven day without removing it then on the 8th day remove all the coats of varnish and start again this will strengthen your nails and help protect them from damage in the future. Sorry but it will take time trust me i am a nail technician.
