i have been having knee problems lately. i work out a lot and it started at the beginning of the summer while playing basketball. it just recently started hurting again except a lot more. there was never a sudden injury, it just started hurting. it is painful on the inner side of my right knee. i can sometimes feel it "grinding" and it pops whenever i use it. iti have been icing it 2 times a day this week but i can not tell any difference. i have no history of knee pain ever. i am only 15 so take that into consideration for what you think it might be. my guess is that i may have torn cartilage, because of the grinding. It is also painful to the touch on the inner side right between the kneecap and thebone, in that dip. when i walk my knee will sometimes "lock up" and my knee will jerk. right now not doing anything, sitting here typing this it hurts. lately it has started grinding when i walk also. what might the doctor recomend? an MRI? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

u really should go to an orthopedic and get this checked out! and, yes an MRI may be necessary to get the diagnosis! sounds like u have a good idea about what it might be, but best for a dr. to check it out! they can even tell in an exam about what it can be, then follow with the MRI

I wish I had more knowledge to advise you of what it might be, but the only thing as you know is to see a doctor, I'm sure they will have to x-ray your knee to treat you properly. But, you did explain your symtoms very well, so maybe a doctor will see this and be able to advise you better. Hope everything goes well.

A doctor would probebly send you in for some X-rays. They can see if the cartalege is torn in an X-ray. Its probebly jsut as basic as that and some physical therapy. However in an extreme case surgury might be involved. but i would get it checked out ASAP. good luck.

I suggest that you have your knee looked at by a doctor. Better yet, go to the emergency room. You don't want to play games with your knees or legs. MRI's don't hurt.....Don't put it off...Good luck

Yes, you should see a doctor. It might be something simple to repair, but from your description of your injury, it will probably continue to get worse if you don't seek medical attention. Good luck.

Wow, that was a long question. Didn't read it all, but it sounds like you know there's a problem, so see a Dr.
