I need to replace my hard drive and I don't know what it looks like..

Hehe, it looks like a hard drive.... It is in the Hard drive bay. Take my advice, with your knowledge, take it to a technician.

It looks very similar to the new one, if you have already bought it.

If you insist on doing this yourself, look for wide flat gray cables. One will go from the motherboard to the CD drive(s), the other will go to the disk. The disk will also have a power cable going to it. It will he held in by 4 screws, maybe on the sides, or maybe on the "bottom" of the drive. The drive may be tucked almost anywhere, probably horizontal but possibly mounted vertically.

Unplug the computer before you open it up, and be careful. Good luck.

is e-machine not like our desktop machines , any hard drive must have some sort of cables , but i advise you ,if you where going to do that by your self , serch fo your computer type and find its accessories and how to install them and you will fing the place of ur hd

its in the front of the computer, and its a rectangular box thats should be uproght, but dont accept as true for all computers, i have a dell

when u open up ur case. its gona be on the upper top left. prob.

Maybe you shouldn't be doing this. Would you do surgery on yourself too?

it's about the size of postcard, but maybe about 1.5" thick...
