the same thing happened to me one year back, and it created serious misunderstanding between my fiance and me. you should immediately inform your own friend about what her ex is trying to do, and tell that guy that you are not interested to get involved into this matter, to avoid future chaos.

all the best.

It is interesting that for him to be talking to you it automatically means he's trying to get with you. Find out his motives then tell the both of them whatever needs to be told..but she left him so I'm not sure why she even needs to be involved but if that feels like the thing to do for your friendship then do it.

You need to do both. If you dont put him in his place then he'll get the idea that you like him or dont mind what he's doing. At the same time, if you dont tell her then you arent proving yourself to be a good trustworthy friend.

Talk to you in what way? Is he flirting with you or maybe he may be trying to get you to break the ice and help him get back with his wife. Find out what his motives are and then go from there.
