I know you have a budget and you want to go all out but a little getaway is a great idea. If you enjoy the out doors go on little picnics instead of dining out. I am sure there are deli's in the area. These were just a few of the places I saw online and they seemed reasonable. I live in the tropics and just to go to a hotel for 2 nights can run you up to $500 so if you can go for 4 nights for $400 and have money to have fun I think it is a good deal. Remember it is about the time you spend together not the place you do it and not the amount you spend but the thought you put into the experience. Happy Anniversary Have a great time and enjoy each others company away from the world for a few days!!!

If you live in Michigan, why not go to Mackinaw City? It's not far from where you are so you can drive instead of flying. There's the beaches of lake Huron and lake Michigan as well as nearby wooded areas with plenty of trails for hiking and enjoying nature. Not to mention Mackinaw Island (a very romantic place) is just a short ferry ride away.

My husband and I went there for a long weekend for our anniversary last year in September. I think we spent around $1000.00 total. We booked a package deal through www.mackinawcity.com that included a beachfront hotel (the Waterfront Inn...I highly recommend it if you go), roundtrip ferry to the Island for both of us as well as admission to three of the major historical attractions and a few other things all for around $450.00 for four nights. We had so much fun, we're going back this year and staying for a week!

I happen to know your state has quite the lake.. Why not stay there run over to the lake, Rent a hotel on the lake, rent a boat and go fishing.. This way you save the air fare..and you'll have enough for some nice dinners.. Good Luck...Your friend from Tennessee...ROB

forget going somewhere! why don't you give him a great card, cook a fabulous meal--his favorites(fish, whatever)--a night at casino or tanning salon, good music, flowers, etc. and save the money you have for another time.
