x raised to the power minus 2 means: 1/x^2
thats is
1/x^2 = 4
cross multiply both sides so it will become:
1/4 = x^2
or
x^2 = 1/4
if there is square on one side, take it on the other side and it will become square root...(if u know this rule...u shud better know it)
and if u dont know this rule then just take a square root of both sides
(x^2)^1/2 (raised to the power half means square root of x^2)
so it will become:
(x^2)^1/2 = (1/4)^1/2... (square root of 1/4)
[left hand side] 2 and 2 will simplify each other
so it will become
x = +1/2 or -1/2
the answer is 1/2 (half)...b/c square root of 1/4 is 1/2...

x^-2 = 4 which is the same as: 1/[x^2] = 4
solving for x therefore involves:
1 = 4x^2
1/4 = x^2
sqrt (1/4) = x
1/2 = x

the best way is to work backwards:
x^-2 also means 1/(x^2)
so we can rewrite the equation: 1/(x^2) = 4
now we multiply both sides by (x^2) to cancel out the denominator on the left side:
1=4x^2
then divide by four:
1/4 = x^2
now you take the square root of both sides (remember to take the root of both the numerator and the denominator):
1/2 = x

Please clarify. Do you mean x(to the minus 2 power) = 4?
If so, x(to the minus 1 power) = 4 x 4 or 16
and x = 16 x 4 = 64

x^-2=4 so add 2 to both sides x^=6 sqrt. of 6 is
2.4494897427831780981972840747059
Sorry it's so long, shorter is 2.45 if you round it to the nearest hundredth

this is the same as
1/(xsquared) = 4
so,
4(xsquared) = 1
then,
4x^2 - 1 = 0
factoring it,
(2x+1) (2x-1) = 0
this means that either of the two is equal to zero. So,
(2x+1) = 0 or (2x-1) = 0
x = 1/2 or x = -1/2
can be expressed as,
x = 0.5 or x = -0.5
