Was: Albert Einstein. Not only for the science, math and theories that helped shape modern time, but because as a Jewish person that had to leave his homeland to survive he showed us humanity.
Is: Stephen Hawking. Same as above, except instead of having to show his fortitude to live by escaping the Nazis, he shows us his bravery by fighting a physical battle to live a happy life.

King Solomon. He is very wise because he was able to give the best solution to the problem wherein two mothers were fighting over a baby. He decided that the child should be halved and the "mothers" be given each half. The real mother immediately objected and told the king that she is willing to give the baby to the other woman just to spare the child's life. Of course, King Solomon realized that indeed, she was the real mother and gave to her the baby.
