The Maid of the Mist cruises, named for an ancient Ongiara Indian mythical character, have carried passengers into the whirlpools beneath the Falls since 1846. The Spanish Aerocar, built in 1916 from a design by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres y Quevedo, is a cable car which takes passengers over the whirlpool on the Canadian side.

The Canadian side is the better view.

When you get to the falls on the American side, go to the info center. When you are there, you can buy tickets at a discount for a whole bunch of attractions,- I think there is a movie, maid of the mist, whirlpool park, cave of the winds for around $25. Good price for all of that.

On the American side is also an aquarium.

On the Canadian side is Marine Land and game Farm. Last time I was there, not a lot of rides, but whales and dophins. May have changed.

About 30-40 minutes down 90 going East is Darien Lake. Great amusement park. I think they have a water park.

On Grand Island is (was) Fantasy Island. Not a huge park, but close, a decent size and has water attractions.

Oh yes, there is the Niagara Gorge.

Now you may want to check on this, but when I was a kid, there was a town called Welland, where you could see the boats going up and down in the locks. That was over 40 years ago. Is a nice kind of quiet time activity, somewhat educational. Could be combined with a picnic.

Have not lived in the area in over 25 years but go back to visit a lot.

Canadian side has great views, but beware of some of the museums, I went through the wax museum one time. It seemed like we paid a lot and then it was over real fast.

There is also an Indian museum on the American side, they call it the Turtle I think.

Not sure how long you are staying, but there is also a park called Art Park, I think it is in Lewiston NY that is pretty nice. They do concerts and have grass passes fairly cheap.

At night there is fireworks at the falls.

If you have kids into hockey/soccer try Cupolo's sporting goods. We have gotten equipment there at about 1/2 the internet prices when you count the exchange rate.

If you jump on the Queen E, you can be in toronto in less then 1 1/2 hours. Well worth the trip. Beautiful clean city. Hockey Hall of Fame, Going on up a fit further to Eglington I think is an awesome science museum. Hands on, very cool.

Have fun.

some appropriate places to stay are on the yank aspect. The Canadian aspect has a significantly better view of the falls, and the Marriott has a 2-evening kit for better or less $one hundred fifty evening. Sheraton 4-factors is close to the falls. American-aspect motels - Crown Plaza - 10 minutes walk to US aspect of Falls, vacation motel about 15-20 minute walk to Falls. activities: ***Cave of the Winds or the Maid of the Mist boat excursion, ***see the illumination from the Canadian aspect - nightly 9pm-middle of the night, Fridays, Sundays = loose stay shows in Victorian park, Niagara Falls centred visitor center, gardens, remark tower. Skylon Tower - there's a loose fee ticket for this if eating on the Skylon.

Just go to Clifton Hill, that's where pretty much everything is. Right at the bottom of Clifton Hill is the Falls and the bridge to the US. There is even an indoor water park. This stuff is on the Canadian side, don't waste your time wth the American side. You will be highly disappointed.

There's the whirlpool cable car, the revolving restaurant in the tower that reminds me of the needle in Seattle, the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, the underground railroad tour, and the casinos for a few.
