Yes Yes Yes......all you need is photo ID and birthcertificate....half the time they don't even ask to see that. YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSPORT.......YET

Yes, I'm an American visiting Canada right now. Just crossed the border last Friday.

They may start requiring a passport soon but the date keeps moving. Last I heard they'll start requiring a passport in January 2007.

Yes, you can. The latest word is that you will be able to drive there until 2008 without a passport. If you fly, take a train or a boat, you'll need one in 2007.

one need a valid passport for legal entry to canada .

Depends where you are coming from and your country of citizenship. Don't rely on a bulletin board for your answer... check with your travel agent or an official web site before you start your trip. Otherwise you could be very disappointed!
