There are two important things to consider. First, the age of the passengers and second the budget.
If you don't have a budget to be concerned about, there is nothing to worry about. There are several options in the deluxe category that will accomodate you, and also the villas. But, they can be a little costly.
If you are on a budget, you have three options. The first would be a Family Suite at the All Star Music. You just need to be sure to book in advance. There is limited availiability and they book pretty quick. Basically, Disney took two of the value rooms and combined them to make a larger room with a small kitchenette.
Another option would be Port Orleans Riverside. They have a trundle bed in some of the rooms so that you have an option for parties of five. The biggest problem here is that the trundles are really small. Most people say children over 4 don't fit real well, but Disney allows children up to 9, I believe. So you really should consider the size limit. This will be the least expensive option.
The Wilderness Cabins is also an option. They are big and have plenty of room for parties of five. It is a really nice option, but also more expensive, so this may not work. But of the budget options, this would be the nicest.
Of course, you always have the option to book two rooms at the resorts to get more room.
If you call up Disney, and better yet, a travel agent, they can help you really quick. I would try a travel agent because they are going to be more willing to work with you and get the perfect setup for your situation, i.e. price and hotel.
I hope this helps!

Walt Disney World can and will accomodate you and your family. There's 25 different Resort optioin onsite, all Disney Resorts. There's different room types- standard (two queen beds or king, and usually a day bed), deluxe (same as standard with about an extra square foot of space), suite (there's different suites, they're obviously bigger than the other rooms and offer more), and there's a villa (which is basically like your own little home- bed rooms, living area, kitchenette, etc.)
For a family of five, you should probably get a villa. Besides that, I'd get two guest rooms. The villa would have plenty of space for the entire family.
Disney's Resorts with villas are: Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Boardwalk Inn, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Yacht Club Resort.
Check out the Walt Disney World website, here's all the different Resorts...
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortOverview?id=ResortOverviewPage
Your family's definitely making the best decision by staying on Disney property and taking advatage of the Extra Magic Hours, Park Hopper Option, Water Park Fun & More Option, etc. You should get a plan with that includes the Disney Dining Plan, like the Premium or Platinum Package (if you can afford it) because everything is included (recreation in the Premium and recreaton, tours, and all kinds of other stuff in the Platinum.)
Your family's going to have an awesome time!
* Just a correction to the person below me, the Deluxe Resorts are...
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney's Beach Club Resort
Disney's Boardwalk Inn
Disney's Contemporary Resort
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort
Disney's Polynesian Resort
Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Disney's Yacht Club Resort
Walt Disney World Dolphin
Walt Disney World Swan
I always stay at Disney's Polynesian Resort and I can't imagine there's enough room for everyone. There's mayeb enough room to sleep. Two people can sleep in each of the beds and then someone can sleep on the little couch. But there's just one bathroom, and not much room to walk around or do anything. But if you're not planning on being in the room much at all, then it may be a good choice. The only problem would be that it would take forever for everyone to get ready in the morning.

The only option at the value resorts that will fit 5 people in a "single" room is the Family Suites at the All-Stars Music. These have two rooms - including two bathrooms - with a kitchenette and can sleep up to 6 people. Without discounts, they run from around $179/night during the value season to around $285/night during the holidays. Price-wise it's not much different from getting two connecting rooms, but you do get a bit more space and the kitchenette which can save a bit of money if you do breakfasts or snacks in your room. They are about 520 square feet, and a regular room is about 260 sqare feet. (Pictures are online at http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/All-Star-Music_Family-Suite/index.htm and a layout is available at http://www.mousesavers.com/allstarmusicsuites.html .)
Of the moderate resorts, the Port Orleans Riverside can take 5 people in some rooms in the Alligator Bayou section. The 5th bed is a trundle, and may be a bit tight for an adult, but most kids and some teens fit okay. Those run from $139 - $215 per night depending on the season. These are about 314 square feet (tight for 5 people, but do-able).
Almost all of the deluxe resorts have some rooms that can take 5 people, but *all* of the rooms at the Beach and Yacht Club, the Polynesian and the Comtemporary can. They will range from $205 - 545 per night and from 344 - 440 square feet.
The Fort Wilderness campgrounds also has cabins that are 504 square feet and sleep up to 6, and also have a full kitchen with all basic stuff (pots, pans, plates, etc) supplied. They range from $239 - $349 per night.
Another option would be the Vacation Club villas, but you'd need at least a 2-bedroom and that's more expensive than the Deluxe resorts.
I don't know if it applies, but a child that is 3 or under who can sleep in a roll-away crib does not count towards the room's occupancy limit.
Depending on when you are traveling, there may be discounts you can use at Mousesavers (http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html). You may also find that a Disney-specific travel agent may be able to help as well. Two that I can personally recommend are Dreams Unlimited (http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/index.html) and Small World Travel (http://www.wdwvacations.com/). Both *only* do Disney travel, and so are quite good at keeping on top of the best rates and deals for most situations.

Port Orleans Riverside is your best bet for a moderate rate. None of the All-Star resorts will accomodate a family of 5 unless you get a suite. And if you can afford a suite, why would you stay at an All-Star resort.
Staying onsite is nice, but don't rule out a hotel on Lake Buena Vista. Close to everything and save a ton of money.
Good luck, Walt Disney World is the greatest vacation place on earth!

Are you going to Disney World in Orlando or Disneyland in California?
At Disney World, the moderate resorts will accomodate a family of 5 without breaking the bank. Try the Port Orleans Riverside.
All the home away from home resorts will also. Old Key West is awesome.

The Deluxe Resorts should all sleep 5 in a room, that would be the Polynesian, Contemporary and Grand Floridian. But I'm warning you, it's tight, we did it once, and I'm not sure I'd do it again. Better yet, you can get 2 rooms at one of the Value resorts (All Stars or Pop Century) and have a little more room for less $$. Good luck!

well i am in a family of five people, my parents, and the three of us (children) and last summer, we stayed at the walt disney world resort in orlando, florida. it was a lot of fun, but we were faced with the same problem, finding a hotel that would fit all five of us. we ended up staying at one of disney's value resorts. there are many choices, including the three all-star hotels: music, movies, and sports, as well as the pop culture hotel. but we stayed in the all-star music. however, we ended up renting two rooms that were connected to each other with a door. even though it cost a little bit more. it was very convienient, since we got two bathrooms, two tvs, and four queen sized beds in total. it was very roomy. well, i hope this helps...good luck with your trip and your planning and hope you have an awesome time like i did!!! =)

I believe that the Disney's All-Star Music has added a family type suite. Really don't know much about it..You can probably find out more info on the site at disney.go.com under destinations and value resorts...

We just got back from Disney. We stayed at the Doubletree (hilton) that is on-site but is not part of the Disney resort Family. We had 5 people and were VERY comfortable. Check out the site.
