There is alot to work through. Did the husband know he had this child and neglect to tell his wife? Or, did he himself just find out? Either way, you marry for better or for worse. If the wife cannot take the daughter with the husband, I say, she doesn't love him as much as she said she did.

Your friend needs all your support to make her decision. She has probably lost all trust in her husband... but she shouldnt condemn the child even if she is 16, as it was never her fault to begin with... It is wrong to deprive the 16 year old of her father, neither is it necessary for your friend to have to accept her, as she was never aware of this from the very beginning...

Her husband has put her in a fix, somethig that she didnt bargain for... her choice... she can leave or just ignore the whole situation.. let her husband know how she truly feels for his dishonesty...

Was this girl from a former marriage or liaison, or was it from an affair? Your friend is not obligated to buy her expensive gifts, but should be civil to her. Has a paternity test been performed to conclude that he is the father? I also would feel cheated but, you can't change the past. Your friend should leave the gift-giving to her husband.

Did he know he had a daughter, and didnt tell her??? and doesnt your friend love her husband cause to love your spouse u have to love all of him, INCLUDING HIS CHILDREN.. sounds to me your friend is selfish and the thought of anyone but herself and her children taking his attention is driving her crazy.. That little girl needs a father, and her father can always say NO if she's asking for "expensive" gifts.. but i think its time to tell your "friend" to grow the hell up..

Was she married to him atthe time? If not, its best that she accept the kid, but treat her like she would her own kids, and not let her get away with taking advantage of daddy. Its time she told the girl they can't afford expensive gifts to bribe her.

Why did he not tell his wife he had a 16 year old daughter? That's just not something you KEEP from someone, especially when your in a relationship/marriage with them and it is going to effect, EVERYONES life...I'm sure she does feel cheated, lied to and betrayed, with every reason to!!!

I would divorce his assets. This is considered to be unmartial faithfulness. Bottom line. If anyone hides his/her own child then they are not worth sh**. That child didn't ask to be born. I don't care about what kind of expensive gifts she ask for.
