I think if the asker is sincere and has a question--then it's not stupid.
However, there are definitely ppl. on here trying who post stupid comments/questions that are just meant to be "funny" or obnoxious and they are STUPID QUESTIONS! :)

Of course there are stupid questions. That is just something that people say to encourage questions at training sessions or at school or to make a stupid question asker feel better after having asked a stupid question.

After teaching for a few years, you do question that adage.
I was asked years ago, by an ESL special education student how to spell "I.D.". I ran out of the room laughing. (Actually waited to laugh when I was in the hallway.)
The following year he asked how to spell "VCR". I just gave him a look. "Oh, I did it again, huh?" YEAH.
