I suggest a Saturn. I have one myself and I couldn't be happier. It gets good gas mileage and hasn't broken down yet.
Besides they are not ridiculously expensive, but affordable.
They drive nice and are pretty quiet. They are not noise proof, but they are quiet enough so it doesn't bug you.

I say stick with toyota, honda, nissan, or cheverolet, they are the best dependable cars. My first car was a 2005 Toyota Corolla S, and i got that my junior year in high school, but i traded that in to get a 2006 4-door Honda Accorrd...I'm somewhat spoiled

if your rich then get a mercedes so you can get used to driving a small car and then go to bigger cars. if your not rich then you should get like any regular toyota car. :D good luck
