I think it sucks. I am working to support all of their lazy asses. I know there are people who are really disabled, and I think they deserve a hand, but these folks who get on disability just because they are diabetic or whatever (not knocking diabetics but I have seen a young person in my office who could work, and was NOT disabled on disability because of it) and bring their 10 screaming kids (because they have done nothing but sit home all day and have sex) to the doctor's office I work at and demand everything handed to them on a silver platter. They piss and moan because they can't get their meds when they want or that they have to pay out of pocket when they have maxed out their prescription benefit for the month,. WHEN THE WHOLE STINKING COUNTRY IS PAYING THEIR WHOLE DAMN WAY! I think most people can work in some capacity and they should.

People don't get approved for stubbed toes for either SSI or SSD. You don't know why - don't make assumptions on whether people "seem" fine to you or not. People approved for either have to have legitimate proof, an examination by a doctor approved by the social security system, and in some cases, depending upon the reason - failed and tried attempts at returning to work.
Many of them paid into the system, and if you suddenly COULDN'T work in a traditional manner, you'd be glad if you had that option available as opposed to begging family, or if you didn't have any, living on the streets.
Don't let yourself be so jaded into who people really are. Did you ever consider there's even people out there that didn't want to apply for those assistances, but have no choice? People have pride you know, to want to be able to provide for themselves. For some people - it's a last resort to preventing a much worse outcome.
In many cases - whether on the streets from lack of money to survive, or other more complicated reasons - death.

I can go on about this forever, but I think it should be regulated and just because he "stomped his toe" doe not mean he is disabled. There is a lot of red tape to go through if you know what I mean. And, for the people that can work and have all of these kids and lye to the system in order to live off of govt. assistance are sore losers. I pay taxes every month as well as annually. Its BS.

If they are defrauding the govt, I hate it, and I would love to report anyone that was doing such a thing that I knew about.
It really angers me with the whole social security thing because I am paying into it right now, and I am not even guaranteed anything when I retire because the system has been robbed over the years to "balance the budget". What a crock! So I pay, and pay, and pay my entire working career, only to be told at retirement, "Sorry lady. We have no money left for you, since you paid in. But everyone that collected earlier thanks you for your free money."
SOMEONE FIX SOCIAL SECURITY!!

I can't agree with Desert Wildflower's answer and in my opinion he is probally one of these low lifes who bleed the system dry over Bulls___! In the area where our family lives I have seen to many cases of people who are drawing SSI just because they have found away to scam the government and hard working tax payers out of their money. If we look to our future what we would see is losers who have bled our retirement away! (Wal-mart will hire anyone, have you seen some of their employees lately?).
