I'm a guy and a lot of the women that I work with touch me a lot when they come up to me and I am sitting down. Are they attracted to me or are they just being friendly or is it just nothing?
Also, I just went to a restaurant and the waitress would do the some thing. She made a point to touch the side of my arm when scooting past me and had her hand on my shoulder when I was sitting down and she was asking me something.
I know this is kind of a weird question but I am really curious what is going through women's heads. I'm a tall, fit, goodlooking guy with very nice, blue eyes that I get many compliments on. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks.

The touches at work are often like they are gently rubbing me.

Well, when waitresses do it, they get bigger tips!

People do it to make the other person feel comfortable, or to show friendship. And sometimes, it can be considered as flirting.

Some of us women are the touchy, feel-ly kind - and you being a very nice looking guy doesn't hurt. Some of the women may be trying to see if you hit on them - some may be just flirting (not wanting to take it any further) - some may think that it will get them more points with you. Some may just feel a warmth from you. It's hard to say - but, if a women really likes you - and wants to really get to know you - she will let you know in very certain ways. Keep being a gentleman.

Though some people prefer not to be touched, I've found that many people feel more relaxed and open when you shake their hands or touch their arm/shoulder when talking or relating to them in some way. I guess it's my way of saying that I am interested in them and what they are saying. To me, it's not at all a sexual thing but just a way of connecting emotionally and being friendly.

According to my psychology textbook, when a women makes contact with a man on his arm/shoulder or back, ESPECIALLY a waitress, she is attempting to ensure he is listening and paying attention to what she is saying. This is also a typical way people show signs of openness and friendliness, and to show that they are there to help you and to listen to you. Appropriate human contact is widely accepted as a sign of warmth and sincerity. Studies have shown that male customers tip female waitresses higher if they had physical contact made with them during their stay. Hope this helped!

I sometimes touch people to get their attention before saying something to them or making a statement. But only if they look really friendly and that they can deal with that.

Has nothing to do with attraction or flirting, more a "hey buddy"- body language.

They are flirting. I generally will touch someones arm, shoulder or back if I am flirting. Careful though women flirt for many reasons. They could flirt because they are attracted, they could flirt because they want you to do something, they flirt because they want a nice tip. I would say that these women are flirting. Enjoy it.

It depends. Notice how they are touching you. Are they stroking you? That means they are being sympathetic or flirting. Is it a gentle tap? They might wanna ask you something. Is it a heavy touch, like pressing? They are probably just being friendly. There are different ways of touching, and also notice their expression.

I do know for a fact that when a woman touches you or slightly taps you, it's a sign that they are attracted to you. The next time that happens, you'll see that they'll pull their hair behind their ear. That's another way that you'll know that a woman may find you attractive.

They are touching you because they think you are "HOT". They are attracted to you and want to feel you. I touch guys arms that I am attracted to....without even thinking about it....just kind of happens. The physical attraction just pulls you toward them.

I think you answered your own question... Sounds to me as they are flirting or they are touchy, feely women..... I talk with my hands alot and I am touchy also but I sometimes mean it as a kind gesture or affection it just depends on who I am speaking with and what about..... I think most of the time your instincts tell you... Take it as a compliment and enjoy.....
