ah now its my turn

from my album bust caps in kids..

just kidding seriously, when i disipline the little punks,i talk to them to see if they under stand the gravity of the crime for the little ones who dont quite get it we use time out
we never smack kids it dosent really do much good, talking to them making them under stand that you disipline them cos you love them that means understanding what disipline is it is to lovingly correct a wrong course providing cosequenses for actions, use grounding loss of priveledges ,what ever you do be consitant other wise they will play ya but disipline is modified to age of the child, what works for a teen may not work for a tot

hope this helps

but be prepared for some random answers from me ha ha ha

That question kind of showes you are clueless...totally!

There simply is no way for others to answer this correctly because -just like in our law system- there should be an appropriate punishment for the specific "crime" and age

Some parents are like "no TV" or "your grounded", and the real stupid parents use physical violence...

A good "punishment" should ALWAYS be in relation to the "crime"
e.g. cleaning another room for not cleaning the own room.

Also there should be an explanation, on why there will be a punishment to help understanding the importance of the violated "law"

Just make sure there also are rewards for good behavior, you can avoid lots of punishing with that!

My 3 yr old will have it explained to her why what she did was wrong, and also receive a 5 minute timeout, to show her there are consequences to her actions......

My 7 yr old is automatically put on timeout for 15 minutes, and after the time is up she is asked to explain herself. If her actions continue, the punishment increases. ( 30min timeout, then loss of privileges.)

If and only if the situation calls for it, she will get a crack on the behind. I use this as only a last resort in those rare extreme cases. ( Thankfully, I haven't had to do this yet)

Time out (one minute for each year of age) ... if that doesn't work I take away her Game Boy ... or computer time ... or Xbox ... or TV time ... or some of her allowance ... something like that.

As for the age difference thing .. my kids are 5 years apart, but the youngest is only 7 months, so I'm not having to face that yet (thank goodness!)

Honestly, you have to yell at them, degrade them, and then tell you you love them.

My father did it to me as a child and I grew up for the better.

"I can't believe you did this! I am so disapointed in you! I thought you were smarter but I guess not! HOW could you be so stupid?!"

after they start crying or looking regretful.

"Look, I love you but THINK before you do something THAT stupid."

and by the way, if you have a smart *** kid that laughs at you when you yell at them [my sister was like that] you honest to god have to take they're entire life away.

Ground them, take the TV, phone/cellphone, internet, outside time, friend time everything away.

And if they get mouthy, smack the **** out of their back ends.

Seriously.

I'm 16 and I know you have to be mean to kids today.. i hate these brat children who sass off to adults and get away with it.

UGH!

My baby brother whos 5, use to get time out for 5 min, but it started not to work, so we made the rule that he has to stand for 5 min, cause he gets bored easily, standing there. being bored is the real punishment, lol, we dont believe in hitting or spanking.

My sister whos 9 gets grounded, and has to stay home, with out the phone, and television.

Don't have any yet, but I think that if the crime is enough a kick for the younger children and a punch for the older ones.

For the younger kids, time out seems to be the best way. But you have to be consistent. For the older ones, take away something that would make them squirm. If the offense is "that" bad, a little spanking might be in order.

Take stuff away, grounding, yelling and spanking once in a while. The trick is to keep changing punishments so they never know what you are going to do.(also I let them think they get away with some stuff so they don't get to smart on me and then I can bust them on the bigger stuff.)

It's really, you know. You find what they value the most and take it away. For a younger one might be TV, so you limit TV hours or take them completely away. An older one, maybe cellphone, car, outings, clean the house fully before leaves the house. Anything that will annoy them... :P

Take away all the priviledges no matter what age. Be firm and persistant. If you said "No TV for the whole evening" do NOT change your mind. Be very firm, it's very important. It works with my 9 year old. When she hears no TV for the whole evening, or no play with your friends, no tubes (McDonald's playgroud) etc. it changes her attitude 180 degrees.
How old are your kids??
