Well, I do it because I have nothing better to do. I could honestly care less about the points. I mean, what are they go for anyway? I just like to interact with people and have some fun while I'm at it. And honestly, I have not found a 'real' question that I could give a good answer to. Why waste those people's time? I just answer the odd questions and the ones that people expect a silly answer to.

Yes...

Ok.. hehe... people are limited in the number of answers they can give... some people are only 13 years old and don't know how to respond to serious questions... some people don't like anything that is not like them.. so they ridicule and make smart remarks...

some people just take the 2 points and run... but... you CAN report them for "not a question or answer"... if they just thank you for the points... because their input is irrelevant... is it really worth your time to report them?

As for myself... I give a LOT of stupid answers and run at about 4% Best Answers... because I think there are a lot of questions out there that have been answered over and over and over... and... when you are asking your question.. you get hints on what questions to look at to see someting similar to your question... so most of my questions are already answered.. so I don't have to waste the 2 points to ask a question (5 points to post... but get 3 points back when you pick a Best Answer)...

some people don't give many answers... but they have a very high percentage of Best Answers...

A very good question. I will try to answer..

Well, first of all Y!Answer can't tell whether it's a good or bad answer.

And the points that we collect either shows how helpful we are or it simply shows that we have nothing to on-line. I'm here because of the 2nd reason. I'm working in a Call Centre & I answer question when there are no calls.

P/s I have time to waste

Lowest Common Denominator Syndrome.
If you go to any discussion board or site where people are given the chance to interact, you will see how quickly things turn just plain dumb. This also seems to be happening on sites that are not meant to be chatty or interactive, like Yahoo! Answers or the comments posted about recent news stories.
Human nature at its predictable finest. Sad.

PS 2 more points and I win the free holiday!

Good point.
Thanks for the two points. :D

But seriously, does Yahoo! really have the time and resources to sort out every single answer as "stupid" "bad" "good" whatever? Naw. Fortunately, they DO give you- the asker- the privilege to reward good answers with 10 points. And I believe it's more effective to try for 10 points whenever you can; you get so much farther ahead than all the idiots who type in something like "n" or "djafkleiuro."

Because of how the system is set up. If they wanted to do something like that, they would have to check every single answer and then determine if they deserve the two points. There are a lot of smartasses on here and they want to cause havoc. People take advantage of free points. There are people who DO actually answer questions believe it or not.

Once again folks:
The points dont matter!
But, that said, to some its just a game. And I guess it gives them a little thrill to say, thanks for the 2 points.

He who dies with the most points...
has probably spent too much time on Answers.

you can only answer questions as you understand them and part of everything in life is to look at ones self and laugh and carry that happiness to others, I agree most answers don't answer the question but some are quite funny

Most people are just looking for points... not that it really gets you anything.
