I have 2 job offers... 1 is with Panera Bread, the other is with a really cool Irish pub... Panera already made an offer (which I took), but I know I will get an offer from the pub next week (which I did not know when I accepted Panera's offer)... I'm probably going to keep my word and stay with Panera, but honestly I don't know... What would you do?

The pay will be similar all things being equal... Panera has more benefits, but the pub will put me up faster.

The pub job will only be open for a few more weeks at best, the thing is: the gm will be leaving to open a new on within the year and when that happens whomever they hire will be the new gm.

I truly believe all things happen for a reason and in some pre-determined order. I believe you were offered the Panera job first because they really wanted you. If the pub is dragging its feet, it may be waiting for someone else to turn them down before they call you. That means you would be second choice. I would like to know I was the first choice, wouldn't you? Be honest, if it does not work out, you can always try the pub again. I think the pub would value your honesty to the organization. It says a lot about your character when you stand by your promise to take a job, if you did commit, that is. Good luck.

i think i would stay with panera for awhile. maybe the pub would consider letting you work a few hours a week while you keep the panera job. if you like the pub job better and the money would be better then that would be the time to leave panera.

Take the job that YOU really want. Companies will lay you off; cut your hours to benefit them; tell you to do this or that; write you up; fire you, etc....(you get the picture). They will do what's best for them. YOU have to do what's best for you. Put down on paper and visually review the reasons you want whichever job. Whatever makes the most sense to you and for whatever reasons you want whichever particular job - go with that job.

If you took the job it's not ethical to back out. That being said, you can always quit in 2 weeks

90% of the time the first 30-days of a job are a trial period. Just let them know it wasn't right for you and move on to the job you think you'll like.
