Do you actually have to have contact with the person to get chicken pox? or is it air born?

From people that have the virus. Virus is airborne in the area where the patient is. You don't need to touch the person. The symptons appears after seven days of contact. A vaccine is available.

It's airborne, and highly contagious from 2 days before the onset of spots until all the spots have crusted over .
Incubation period ranges from 10-21 days so if one kid comes home sick with it, all the siblings will probably come down with it in about 2 weeks.
Once you've had it it's rare to get it again but can erupt as shingles (very painful)
They're a vaccine available . Check with your family Dr.

I heard once that if a person who has shingles touchs a healthy person they'll get chicken pox.

The same way you get a cold, or the flu, and it is extremely contagious for a couple of weeks.
