I have an old Gameboy color and I would really like to upgrade. I prefer the older games such as super mario bros and similar games. I'm not sure whats out there at all. I would like to know what people know about them and a price range. I would like something that I can actually see the screen.

It seems the ds lite is popular, but dont you have to use a stylus?

If you are a Super Mario fan, then definitely go for the Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendo has been recycling the Mario character for years into new games (and rereleasing the old Super Mario games for the Nintendo handhelds) and you will be able to get a lot of Super Mario games for cheap, since they've been out for so long. Not only do you have the new Mario games for the Nintendo DS, the system is also backwards compatible so you have access to all of the old Gameboy Advance games as well.
Yes, there is a stylus but you do not have to use it for every game. For the platformers like Mario you use the usual direction and button keys, and the stylus is used in other games for other things.
Yes, the screen is smaller than the PSP, but do keep in mind that the brightness on the DS Lite screen is much improved over earlier models.

IF YOU LIKE THE MARIO BROS GAMES THEN YOU SHOULD GO WITH THE DS LITE...BUT ON THE OTHER FOR A BOUT AN EXTRA 70 DOLLARS U COULD BUY THE SONY PSP...IT DOES HAVE BETTER GRAPHICS AND YOU COULD PLAY BUYABLE MOVIES ON IT......ITS ALSO AN MP3 PLAYER AND YOU COULD DOWNLOAD YOUR OWN VIDEOS AND PICTURES ON IT....BUT IT DOESNT HAVE NO MARIO GAMES ON IT SO....IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU WENT WITH THE DS!!!!!!!!!

get the DS, yes you sometimes use a stylus, but not all the time. the nice thing is you can play advance and ds games

My 8yr old just bought a DS Lite with his birthday money. It has great graphics for a handheld. He loves it. We are all getting addicted. I think we are going to have to buy our 11 yr old one too just to keep peace.
