Emigrant's service is poor at best. None of these banks are always #1 (including Emigrant). Most of them raise their rates soon after a fed reserve hike. Service & featurers are also important. All are FDIC insured (very important).

Try;

The Emigrant Direct online bank will be offering a 5.15% rate on their savings account starting July 28th. It's not money market, but it's really convenient, since you have access to the money at any point as it is linked to your checking account. They also raise their rates very frequently (three times in the past two months,) so maybe you'll want to check them out.

Why would you want all of your assets in a money market account? There will always be a good stock pick, no matter the state of the market. To answer your question, interest rates often depend on the minimum deposit. I'd recommend Countrywide, which has 5.0% APY FDIC insured with min. $1,000 deposit.

Try Citibank e-savings account paying 5%...or if you want to make more $..try demandnotes.com...it's paying 6% but the only caveat is that you either have to work for GM or own their stock (tip: just buy one share). Anyway I don't think there's anything higher that these out there that are these safe.
