Earlier this week, I was talking to a mathematician, and was horrified to discover that she had no sensitivity for art. It must have been a very boring 4 years of university!

The people who really have interests apart from their grades, though, really do appreciate studying maths.

On the other side, I studied psychology, and for some reason, they don't expect very much math from us. And so we make mistakes... If you take math seriously, you will have a clearer understanding of the world, be able to see patterns other people miss, and whatever else you study will be enriched by it. Moreover, you'll enjoy maths more when you find a place for it -- when you see why it matters, and apply it to something meaningful to you. So math and your other studies will benefit each other.

Always always always think logically! Math is easy because it's logical!
Keep up with your homework. If you miss a class, it's very important to get the homework off someone else and do it yourself. It'll be tough to stay on top of things otherwise.
Ask your teacher for help and make sure you sit next to people that are positive - this will help greatly.
GET A CHEAT BOOK...notes stuff to make it easier for you...exam papers and answers to supplement the text book...i practically lived off these weeks prior to exam time they'll up your grade from an F to a C easy!

Math has it's uses. Money - if you can't do your math, you can't balance a check book and someone can steal from you and you would never know it. Math can help you halve a recipe that you want to make or double it if you need to. For instance, you have a recipe that calls for 2 cups sugar, 1 cup peanut butter, 2 1/2 cups oats, 1/4 cup cocoa, 2 tbsp butter, 1/2 cup milk. Now you need to double it to make enough for your whole home room. Or you only want enough for you and a couple of friends and not have any left over so you have to halve it. You use math for this. Math is also used to help you lay carpeting (when you go to order carpet for your room, if your room is not perfectly square you need to be able to give square footage. Start working on practical usage for your math and then it will help you enjoy it. Also, make a game out of it.

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you. Personally I
would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running
the country.

1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your
head)

2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area
code)

3. Multiply by 80

4. Add 1

5. Multiply by 250

6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number

7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

8. Subtract 250

9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer ??????

just remember one thing, if you don't comprehend math at your age, how will you ever know what kind of a deal you are getting when you go shopping. Are you really going to know if something at a high end store at 75% off is less expensive than the same item at a cheaper store at 25%off

yes. math is boring sometimes.
but it is useful! it is amazing how many times i have used the math i learned in middle and high school in regular life. i know back in the day i thought i'd never use it, either.
just remember that by knowing math, you will be able to do all sorts of stuff: like shopping/money stuff, SCUBA diving, building stuff, car stuff, etc.
stick to it. ask your mom/dad/bro/sis/classmates for help. sometimes its more fun if you work together with someone. :)

7th grade math is boring. The fun doesn't actually begin till you start doing Fourier Transforms and 3 order differential equations. :) I hated it then but love it now!

Do homework and/or study with friends sometimes. Maybe it will turn into a competition for the best grades.
