like i said im not saying anything what i was comparing is that we took out what a few bad people did on a whole country.im not saying we deliberatly kill im saying that killing is wrong even when it has a trial.someone still died.that someone had a family.that someone had their life cut short.if one of our gangs bombed iraq and they took it out on the whole country your mind would be thinking quite the opposite.

There is no good answer to this except a serious case of the "Us/Them" syndrome. It's common, you know. We do something because it is morally right, THEY do something for selfish reasons.
Right now, if you believe the polls, very few people actually do think what the US is doing in Iraq is a good, moral or even intelligent thing. But, because of the horror of the way soldiers were treated after returning from Vietnam, we aren't willing to say anything to them.
It's an unfortunate thing, this "Us/Them" syndrome. A natural part of humanity's make up, it isn't going anywhere. And until we can clear out our own closets of war mongering politicians who don't want to anger special interests or a Administrations acting in accordance with its own conflicts of interest (Haliburton is a defence contractor and the biggest. Shrub is an oilman who gets a big ol' contribution from big oil when the prices soar due to war) America and her steadfast allies will never break free of the hipocracy.
I suggest viewing "Homecoming" - a short film in the masters of horror series direct by Joe Dante. If you don't already stand against further deaths in pursuit of a war based on a series of lies, this will change your mind.

did Hezbollah overthrow the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953, install the Shah who created the SAVAK with US training and funds, surveilled Iranians - esp. the college students all over the world, sometimes kidnap, torture and kill them? does Hezbollah keep the corrupt dictatorships of Saudi Arabia and Egypt in power to the detriment of millions of Saudis and Egyptians? Did Hezbollah kill over a 100,000 Iraqis in the first Gulf "War" and then impose sanctions that killed over a million people, mostly children under 5 years of age? Does Hezbollah arm Israel and enable its eventually suicidal policy of humiliating Palestinians and angering all its neighbors? Did Hezbollah arm and support both Iraq and Iran during the 80s so that more Iraqis and Iranians could die? Did Hezbollah support the Iraqi Kurd resistance for a while to teach Saddam Hussein a lesson and then back off assuring their deaths at the hands of Saddam? Is Hezbollah currently occupying Iraq and making the country a living hell? This is a short list but to reply: the US is a million times more powerful than Hezbollah and has done more damage to the world than any other current state or terrorist organization.

ERIC, you are an narrow minded moron. As for the person that started this question, stop watching CNN, and read or watch some real news. Like everyone else has told you, you havent got a clue. Hezbollah was behind a suicide bombing that killed about 200 or more of our soldiers in the 80s. Yes sadly, we did not take care of them then like we should have. But you know what, the United States will always be criticized for what we do or dont do. That will never change.....

Your don't know anything about these wars do you? AMERICA didn't just blow up some random place without warning and incite a war just for the hell of it. Our information was screwed up but we thought we had a justified reason for attacking them at least Bush thought he did. We are rebuilding and aren't trying to kill them because of their religion and because we want to. We aren't killing civilians on purpose or at all for that matter. They are terrorists and they know it they even confess to being a terrorist organization. If you like it so damn much why don't you get the Fuc% out of our country and move to the Middle East we will see what you think of them then. Instead of complaining on Yahoo why don't you do something about it? I hate fags like you who think that the world can be changed by shaking hands with people and sitting around and talking. News flash this is the real world and real stuff is going on. Nothing is going to change your mind because your an uneducated idiot who doesn't know what she is talking about. Do some actual research before you start attacking America and supporting terrorist.s.

Ok, let's make this simple. You have one guy who deliberately shoots an innocent civilan, while hiding behind another innocent civilian, for the sole purpose of scaring all the other innocent civilians into obeying his will (this is a terrorist - get it?) You have another guy trying to stop the first guy from shooting anyone else, who accidentally shoots the innocent civilian the first guy is hiding behind. There is NO moral equivalency between the two. The accidental shooting is regrettable, but ultimately both deaths are the fault of the first guy.
This assumes that there is no other way to stop the first guy other than shooting him. I'm afraid that's the case. No one will get anywhere asking Hezbollah politely to stop lobbing rockets, and it's pointless to try negotiating with them, because they have no intention of honoring any agreement they make, once they see an advantage in breaking it.
Additional note to Eric... I'd love to reply to the diatribe you've quoted from someone else, but this is frosteastfire's question.

I think the main difference is that we don't make an effort to kill civilians. When civilians are killed, we have an investigation and, occasionally, legal repurcussions. We're just not the car-bomb little children type, and we tend to avoid putting our military installations and headquarters in the middle of kindergarten playgrounds. If we kill innocents, it's usually accidental. The Hezbollah kills innocents very deliberately.

Please enlighten me on where in the world the United States is sending its suicide bombers to kill innocent men, women and children. That's the kind of thing Hezbollah does. Other than wanting to get rid of the terrorists, what group of people are we intent on wiping off the face of the earth? That's what Hezbollah wants to do to Israel; to all Jews. Their goal is to kill them all. News flash! We're not out to kill all the people in the Middle East. Get your facts straight before you spout off.

We are doing the same thing? What? I notice you didnt say exactly what we are doing that is the same thing Hezbollah is doing. So ur saying we are sending rockets into major cities and deliberately killing innocent civilians? You are saying we invaded some country, killed their soldiers and took 2 of them captive, and will not return them unless that country releases our prisoners? What country is that? Are you also saying that our troops have spent 6 years at the border of that country digging in, and we set up communications radars on top of civilian housing so our enemy will not target us? We dug tunnels 200 feet below civilian housing so our enemy wont bomb us?
Hmmmmm. I doubt seriously you have a clue. You sound like a hopelessly brain dead liberal.

We did not take hostages and make threats, we were attacked, so we took it out on a country that had a Dictator that tried to kill a former President which happened to be the father of our acting Pres. so in retrospect we are just as bad!!!!
