I have always wanted to know this....My "guess" was it stood for twin turbo but have no idea.

The origin of the "TT": the TT was Audi's rally car and it was blessed with a twin turbo engine... it was also allwhelldrive. but as people became wimps so did the car manufacturers and the TT suddenly was just an emblem...... very very sad..

the tt does not have a twin turbo engine the tt is equiped with 1.8 four cyl turbocharged and 3.2 v6 endine audi twin turbos are;; a6 2.7 rs4 rs6 etc
