it sounds like a car w/a huge pipe, but worse. NO power, have to floor it for a few seconds to get any RPM's or it will die.

It might, or might not. You can test the voltage on it, or simply replace it to see if it does the trick. They are easy to replace, and mine cost around $60 for the part. Shouldn't be the catalyctic converter, that just helps with the emissions. If it doesn't fix it, try changing your air filter/fuel filter/oil filter. Then look at your spark plugs/wires/distributor. Could also be bigger problem with valves or timing.

That sounds to me like the timing belt has jumped a notch putting the engine out of timing. Yes, that can happen, it happened to me on a 91 ford escort GT and was giving me the same results that you are describing.

IF IT SOUNDS THAT LOUD ODDS ARE YOUR EXHAUST IS BROKEN OR THE O2 BLEW OUT IF ITS BROKE YOU NEED TO FIX IT IF O2 BLEW OUT IT MIGHT JUST NEED TO BE REPLACE IF THE THREADS IN THE PIPE ARE STILL OK
