I heard this about Moslem , Asian and some European cultures. What does this mean and why do they do it.

Why do you say 'excuse me', when you yawn? It indicates disinterest in the person before you and hence disrespect. Different cultures have different gestures of disrespect. So, no point asking 'what does this mean?'. Simply, such customs have evolved with time.
