I used to park my car where the automatic sprinklers would spray it every night. The windows on one side now have horrible hard water spots that make them almost impossible to see through, especially when the sun is shining from that direction. Kinda dangerous.
I've tried using the products that claim to get hard water spots off of bathroom fixtures, but they don't work at all.
Some scary-looking dude selling some kind of cleaning product cornered me in my driveway once, and demonstrated the product on a spot on one of the windows, and the spots just seemed to effortlessly vanish. I shooed the guy away cuz he was bothering me and I was in a hurry, but I sure wish I had at least gotten the name of the product he was trying to sell me.
Any clues would be appreciated, thanks!

Go with the proven ingredient of many window cleaners, just in a greater concentration... Ammonia! Buy a bottle of ammonia from the laundry aisle at any store and use it on your windows by pouring on a lint-free cloth or paper towel, then wiping the windows. Don't apply directly to the window, because you don't want straight ammonia on your paint. You may need Windex (or similar) for the second cleaning to get off the excess ammonia. Also, do it in the shade but warm weather.

Your best bet is a really natural product:
VINEGAR...
Fill a spray bottle with pure vinegar and spray your windows... Let soak in a minute or so...
Rinse off with a wet rag (but add a half cup of vinegar to the bucket of water also, proportion about 1/4 vinegar to 3/4 water)...
This should solve your problem
If you have streaks afterward, use an alcohol based window cleaner for a second wash.

First, wash with plain Amonia-water and then with a yellow scrub pad, [use 2 parts white vinegar to 1 part water] and scrub the windows. Then use a T-Shirt (cotton) and dry the windows well.
Use the emaining waterand vinegar mix with a wet rag and a dry rag on the rest of the car. Safe and effective.

there is a product called Splash Liquid Acid Cleaner. spray it onto a folded towel and wear gloves. rinse well with water afterwards. Don't wipe over anything plastic though. You can also use it on your paint, but make sure to wax your car soon after. I think you can order it online. Hope this helps
