My adapter for our second computer died (pretty sure as we've tried everything to get that one on-line since Saturday). The wireless is in my son's room (yes, he's almost 18 so I don't need to be told my son doesn't need a computer in his room -- I know what happens here LOL). He's not home and I need to find out --- can I buy ANY adapter from a computer store? Will any adapter automatically read our wireless equipment? What would you suggest? I don't have a ton of $$$$ or anything. Any idea of approximate cost? In Florida/US THANK YOU

Assuming it is a hardware issue with the adapter then yes, any adapter will work with your network. Now, if it's a laptop or a desktop there are different solutions for each one but I think the easiest thing for you to do would be to get a USB adapter which will work on either a desktop or a laptop. Just head over to the local Best Buy or Circuit City and pick one up, this one should do the trick ($37), http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7012485&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat25300050006&id=1099392876384

That being said (my guess is that your son set up the network) and if he did then he probably either set up WEP or WPA encryption (as any tech savvy kid would do) so if you don't know the key, you'll either have to get it from him or reset the router, login to it and change it.
